Our story

It started with children.

Angel Housing grew out of a simple realization: you cannot help a child learn if that child has nowhere to sleep. So we set out to give families something more foundational than a lesson. A home.

How we began

From a classroom to a front door

In 2009, our founding program tutored low-income and homeless students across California. Our staff went wherever the children were. Libraries, parks, motels. And kept meeting the same wall: disconnected phone numbers, changing addresses, kids with nowhere stable to live.

We realized the deepest barrier wasn't education. It was the lack of a home. So in 2013 we began housing families directly, giving priority to single mothers and their children. And we've been doing it ever since.

Our impact

Thousands of lives changed, one family at a time

For more than fifteen years, Angel Housing has been a lifeline for families across Los Angeles. We have helped place more than 1,000 families into permanent homes, including thousands of children who finally have a safe place to sleep, do their homework, and simply be kids.

Our work does not stop at housing. We have fed and clothed countless families and individuals, distributing food, groceries, and basic necessities to homeless and low income neighbors, and helping families claim the food benefits they have earned. We serve homeless children and families, single mothers, and vulnerable adults alike, always with dignity and care.

We also step in before a family ever loses their home. Through eviction prevention, benefits enrollment, and rapid support, we help people who are on the edge of homelessness, so that one hard month does not become a lost home.

Our innovation

We don't just place families. We build homes

Los Angeles can't build traditional housing fast enough. So we manufacture our own residential-quality tiny homes. With ADA-accessible options. And can produce many in about a month, at a fraction of the cost of motel vouchers.
